The 0–9 scale
IELTS reports Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking on a 0–9 scale in 0.5 steps. Your overall band is usually the average of the four skills, rounded to the nearest half band.
Universities and visa routes often ask for a minimum overall band and sometimes a floor in each skill. Knowing which skill is holding you back matters more than chasing one headline number.
